Abstract

The preparation of three rapeseed certified reference materials (BCR-190R, 366R and 367R) and the steps taken to establish the certified values for total glucosinolate and sulphur contents are described. Details of the studies to demonstrate homogeneity and stability are given. The results of the certification exercise for total glucosinolate and total sulphur, which involved 13 European laboratories, are presented and discussed. Uncertainties were calculated in compliance with the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM) and include uncertainties due to possible inhomogeneity and possible instability. Indicative values for individual glucosinolates are given.
