Abstract

The re-certification of the Cd mass concentrations in three lyophilised bovine blood materials is described, The new certified values were obtained using a primary ratio method of measurement (isotope dilution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry) traceable to the SI. Analyses were performed using different sample-pretreatment techniques. Combined uncertainty of the materials was estimated with a methodology described in the GUM taking into consideration contributions of unit-to-unit variation and long-term stability. The new certified values for Cd are 0.20 0.05 Ág/L (BCR-194), 5.06 0.15 Ág/L (BCR-195) and 12.33 0.20 Ág/L (BCR-196).
