Acoustic emission monitoring and data analysis for damage identification in coated superalloy systems
The acoustic emission (AE) activity was monitored during tensile testing of Ni-base superalloy single crystals, coated with two types of plasma sprayed MCrAIY overlay coatings. In conjunctions with in-situ video imaging of the specimen surface and post-mortem microstructural analysis of the samples, the AE data classification has provided a means for non-destructive damage identification and assessment.
