Immunosuppressive viral diseases in poultry have an important economic impact due to the direct lethal losses and indirect losses as a consequence of immunosuppression. The main objectives of COST Action 839 ôImmunosuppressive viral diseases in poultryö is to increase knowledge on diseases caused by infectious bursal disease virus and chicken anaemia virus.

A further objective is to promote exchange of knowledge and technology in the field of epidemiology, diagnosis, vaccination, immunology, molecular biology and pathogenesis in relation to these viruses.

The Annual report 1999 summarises the activities of the participants in this COST action. on.
