  • Airborne pathogens on cereals. Population studies of airborne pathogens on cereals as a means of improving strategies for disease control. Final report 1993-99

Abstract

In this final report, the achievements of COST Action 817 "Population studies of airborne pathogens on cereals as a means of improving strategies for disease control" are described. National efforts from different European countries were brought together with the aim of improving strategies for use of resistance genes and fungicides to control fungal diseases. To reach this goal, scientists from different disciplines-genetics, breeding, pathology and population biology-worked together for a period of six years.

The report presents the actual situation in Europe with respect to variety resistance and pathogen virulence. Future prospects for cereal resistance breeding are examined.
