Abstract

A new on-site analytical laboratory for EURATOM safeguards was implemented and successfully commissioned at the site of COGEMA La Hague reprocessing plant. It was officially inaugurated in June 2000. Designed to efficiently safeguard the plant on a timeliness basis, the so-called ôLaboratoire Sur Site (LSS)ö has been gradually brought to routine operation since June 2000.

This paper presents a report on the commissioning phase, and on the experience gained in the first year of routine operation. The different phases in gradually entering routine operation will be described, the problems encountered and the respective solutions developed will be presented. Finally, an overall review on this initial phase of laboratory operation will be provided. .
