Abstract

The ENAMORS project (a Concerted Action funded under the 4th Framework Programme of the European Commission), with additional support from the Space Applications Institute, NASA, and the Australian CSIRO, organised a major international conference in Ispra, Italy, in September 1999. The objectives of the IWMMM-2 were:
-To establish the state of the art in direct and inverse modelling techniques.
-To review current and future multi-angular airborne space-borne missions as well a latest developments in field and laboratory instruments.
-To demonstrate the usefulness of multi-angle data in practical applications, through the generation of the better geophysical products.

This paper is the introduction to the special issue of the Remote Sensing Reviews containing part of the proceedings for the conference. nce.
