Abstract

The objectives of this project are:

-To optimise the continuous annealing process of cold-rolled sheets, taking into account the chemical composition and hot and cold rolling variables.

-To develop models for quantitative prediction of the microstructure and mechanical properties of continuously annealed steels as a function of the process variables, composition, hot and cold rolling conditions and annealing parameters.

The project covers low-carbon aluminium-killed sheet and tinplate steels (CEIT, AHV and Aceralia) interstitial free steels (British Steel in collaboration with the Swedish Institute for Metals Research) and multi-phase high-strength steels (British Steels in collaboration with the University of Cambridge).dge).
