The ozone radial diffusive sampler was validated according to the CEN protocol. Blank value, desorption efficiency, back diffusion, storage before and after exposure, sampler integrity and expanded uncertainty under laboratory conditions comply with the requirements of this protocol. The validation experiments showed that for concentration around the European Directive limit value, the expanded uncertainty under field conditions is about 30%. This value qualifies the ozone radial sampler as an indicative technique according to the future European Directive for ozone. The nominal sampling rate was evaluated in laboratory conditions. Several parameters (concentration, exposure time, humidity, etc) were shown to have a significant effect on sampling rate, which widen the range of sampling rate values. Good agreement was found between the radial sampler and the reference method for ozone measurements under field conditions.
