Photochemical transformation of priority organic chemicals and pesticides in water
This paper reports the spectral characteristics and kinetics of phototransformation for selected priority organic chemicals, like high volume product chemicals (HPVC) e.g. naphthalene, 4-chloro-2-methylphenol, and pesticides e.g. azinphos-methyl, phosalone, isophenphos, phenmediphan, acifluorphen, metholachlor, mecoprop, bentazone, lenacil, monolinuron, parathion methyl, parathion ethyl. The compounds are dissolved in aqueous solution and irradiated with a solar light simulator. The use of LC-MS/MS equipped with APCI (atmospheric pressure chemical ionisation) and ESI (electro-spray interface) has given the possibility of screening analysis and identification of breakdown products.
