Abstract

This, the fifth volume of the proceedings of COST Action 917 contains papers presented at two meetings: the second workshop of Working Group 2, Polyamines and tumour growth, held at Bad Nauheim (DE), between 30 April and 2 May, 1999 and the second workshop of Working Group 4, Biologically active amines in food processing and amines produced by bacteria, held between 3 and 6 June 1999 in Pruhonice (CZ). The first of these meetings focused on dietary polyamines, cellular proliferation and tumour growth. The main objective of the second of these two meetings was to improve knowledge of the importance and contribution of biologically active amines in diet to growth and health, by establishing the bio-availability of these amines and clarifying their physiological functions.
