Groundwater ecology - A tool for management of water resources

This volume comprises the lectures and the presentations of the participating students given at the advanced study course on groundwater ecology, organized by the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Limnology, within the framework of the European Commission's environment and climate research programme. It covers general and specialized topics dealing with the basic attributes of groundwater ecology, hydrological basis for ecologically sound management of soils and groundwater, managing ecological risks of groundwater pollution, exchange processes between rivers and groundwater, groundwater management and monitoring.
