  • Techno-econmic impact of e-commerce: future development of value chains. - Report of a workshop held at the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS), Seville, Spain, on 5-6 June 2001

This report presents a view of the expected impact of e-commerce on developments of value chains, with a time horizon of 2005. It results from a workshop organised by IPTS in June 2001 in the wider context of the OECD Electronic-commerce Business Impacts Project (EBIP), which aims to improve understanding of the way e-commerce (essentially B2B) influences different economic sectors and the implications for policy development. The report explains in particular that the impact of e-commerce technologies on value chains is expected to vary widely across firms and sectors as a function of sector-specific characteristics.
