12 years of fires
Processing Remote Sensing information at a global scale allows the acquisition of a better knowledge of global change. GLINTS-BS is a Global Information System for Burn Scar Maps developed in the Global Vegetation Monitoring Unit (GVM) of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra (Italy). It processes daily global NOAA-AVHRR Pathfinder GAC - 8 km to obtain Global Burn Scar Maps. In this context it has been used to process 12 years of these data from 1982 to 1993. Here we show a frequency map of burn surface in the period considered.
