Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

EUROHAB, the European Science Initiative on Harmful Algal Blooms, was launched at an international meeting in Kalmar (SE) in November 1998. It aims to generate and co-ordinate the required research to manage better the effects of toxic/harmful micro-algae in the marine and brackish waters of the EU. Co-ordination between national and European research programmes is a key factor for the understanding and management of HABs in Europe, and became one of the main objectives of EUROHAB.

This publication is the second dedicated to the EUROHAB initiative, and provides information on national HAB programmes and on EC projects in the European Union. It also provides an up-to-date list of the research and infrastructure requirements for supporting research and management of HABs in Europe. .
