Abstract

A gas permeation technique has been used to obtain the complete set of deuterium transport parameters in Incoloy 800 with deuterium driving pressures ranging from 10{4} to 1.5 x 10{5} Pa and temperatures from 427 to 780 degrees K. The deuterium diffusive transport parameters obtained are: D (m{2}s{-1} - 3.87 x 10{-7} exp{-47.8 (kJmol{-1})/RT}, Ks (molm{-3}Pa{-1/2}) = 0.102 exp{-7.8 (kJmol{-1})/RT}, phi (molm{-1}s{-1}Pa{-1/2}) = 3.94 x 10{-8}exp{-55.6 (kJmol{-1})/RT}. The deuterium surface rate constants for a non-oxidised surface has been evaluated as sigma k1 (molm{-2}s{-1}Pa{-1}) = 2.67 x 10{-10} exp{-40.1 (kJmol{-1})/RT}, sigma k2 (mol{-1}m{4}s {-1} = 2.58 x 10{-8} exp{-24.5 (kJmol{-1}/RT}, and for an oxidised surface: (sigma k1) (molm{-2}s{-1}Pa{-1}) = 4.14 x 10{-6}exp{-44.3 (kJmol{-1})/RT}, (sigma k2 (mol{-1}m{4}s{-1}) = 4.00 x 10{-4}exp{-28.6 (kJmol{-1})/RT}.
