Abstract

This Eurostat report analyses trends in the usage of the Internet and mobile phones in Europe. The number of personal computers in use in the EU increased in 2000 by about 16% to 108 million. The number of Internet users in EU-15 reached in summer 2001 around 145 million, and 38% of EU households had Internet access at home. In December 2001 the number of mobile phone subscribers is estimated to have reached 279 million, a growth of 18% compared to the year before.
