Abstract

The workshop was held at Ispra on 3-4 December 2001, and was jointly organised by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General of the European Commission. The aim of the workshop was to assess the state-of-the-art regarding analytical methodology in the EU candidate countries and to identify areas to be covered in the future. It was focused on gathering information on:

- The implementation of food analysis in the candidate countries.
- Identifying needs for further collaboration.
- Identifying needs for training.
- Identifying topics of future technical workshops.

The main part of the report consists of answers to a questionnaire filled in by participants from each of the candidate countries, together with a short summary of the responses to the questionnaire.
