Immunosuppressive viral diseases in poultry have an important economic impact due to the direct lethal losses and indirect losses as a consequence of immunosuppression. The main objectives of COST Action 839 'Immunosuppressive viral diseases in poultry' is to increase knowledge on diseases caused by infectious bursal disease virus and chicken anaemia virus. A further objective is to promote exchange of knowledge and technology in the fields of epidemiology, diagnosis, vaccination, immunology, molecular biology and pathogenesis in relation to these viruses.
