Abstract

This presentation discusses the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as a control measure in situations where exposure to hazardous substances is involved. There is growing evidence that the theoretical protection offered by PPE may not be achieved in real life situations, where the actual protection is often uncertain and variable.

This is one of seven papers presented at the workshop, which was organised by the European Chemicals Bureau, a part of the Environment Institute of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy.
