In view of the potential exposure of European workers to textile dyes, Member States need to conduct investigations in order to assess whether pathologies connected with this exposure have been observed. In France, the Institut National de Recherche et Sécurité is conducting a survey among dye suppliers and physicians in order to collect data on pathologies relating to dyes.

This is one of seven papers presented at the workshop, which was organised by the European Chemicals Bureau, a part of the Environment Institute of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy.
