11th Workshop of Marie Curie fellows: Research training in progress, held at Ministry for Education and Research, Berlin, Germany, 24-26 September 2001- Proceedings

Funded under: FP5-HUMAN POTENTIAL

Abstract

Marie Curie Fellowships provide European placements for pre and post-doctoral researchers, usually up to the age of 35, and for experienced researchers. Fellowships are available in any scientific discipline that contributes to the objectives of the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5). In 1999 the Commission initiated a series of "Workshops of Marie Curie Fellows on Research Training in Progress". The purpose of these scientific workshops is to complement the usual monitoring of contracts by an assessment of the scientific content. These meetings provide the forum for scientific discussions between fellows and senior scientists as well as between the scientific community and the European Commission.

The present workshop is the eleventh one organised so far in this series of workshops. The fellows working in Germany were invited to this meeting including, for the first time, Industry Host and Development Host fellowships. A wide variety of multi-disciplinary topics were presented. In total, 28 talks were given by physicists, biochemists, biologists, medical researchers, technologists and environmental scientists. In addition, 38 posters were displayed covering a similar number of disciplines.

The proceedings contain abstracts of all the presentations made by the fellows attending the workshop, as well as a summary of the discussions and the conclusions of the workshop.

The workshop proceedings are also freely available online on the Marie Curie Fellowships website at: ftp://ftp.cordis.lu/pub/improving/docs/mcf_proceedings_berlin.pdf
