Abstract

The objective of this work was to carry out a literature review of the status of CO2 sequestration and the related technologies in the world and in the European Union, including a prospective dimension. The survey is divided in two parts. The first part provides an overview of leading technology options to capture and storage of CO2. Also, a survey of current research efforts worldwide and a short description of current activities and targets in EU-funded projects in the field of carbon sequestration have been made. The second part of the survey provides a review of the key techno-economic parameters published for specific case studies in the open literature. The techno-economic parameters have been adapted as much as possible to the format of the IPTS energy database.
