The PyNe (Pyrolysis Network) subject group on analysis, characterisation and test methods has continued the work carried out in IEA PYRA (International Energy Agency, Pyrolysis Activity) and EC PyNE (European Commission, Pyrolysis Network in Europe) Activities in 1995-97. Both EC and IEA have funded the project. In total 8 objectives were established comprising data collection and distribution in feedback analyses, evaluation of standard and new analysis methods, organisation of a round robin and of workshops. The main results of the project are: organising two workshops, collation and assessment of information and publications on analysing biomass feedstocks and pyrolysis liquids, assessment a suggestion for fuel oil specifications for pyrolysis liquids with the liquid end-users, reporting methods development, and organising a round robin analysis for various pyrolysis liquids.
