Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

PB Power has prepared this report as a guide to the assessment of pyrolysis projects by investors when demonstration scale plants are progressed to commercial scale. The report describes how the financing of small scale renewable energy projects is usually undertaken under a limited recourse project finance scenario. It also identifies some of the key technical areas where researchers should focus their efforts in order to maximise the chances of obtaining successful finance and in order to minimise the perception of risk.

It is essential to show that sufficient records have been kept of both process and plant details for the demonstration projects. As well as illustrating plant configuration, it is of fundamental importance that accurate heat and mass balances can be tabled and proven for the proposed plant. In terms of project feasibility it is also important to ensure that projects demonstrate sufficiently long periods of continuous operation. Any pyrolysis project must be capable of meeting existing and forthcoming environmental legislation.
