Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This report is principally based on pyrolysis oils supplied from Spain and Finland (from a Canadian source), which were of varying quality and of different ages. These oils were used as the major fuel in a modified dual fuel, heavy duty, medium speed diesel engine for ongoing research and development experiments.

Most of the methods applying to the handling of pyrolysis oil should not be regarded as identical or even similar to those commonly used in handling diesel or fuel oils. The only similarity to mineral oils is that it is a liquid and it burns.
