  • Innovation policy issues in six candidate countries: Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Poland and Slovenia. Highlights from final report

Enlargement requires that the economies of candidate countries adapt to the pressures and opportunities of increased competition with the technologically more advanced economies of the EU. In March 2000 the European Council in Lisbon set a goal to create an environment friendly to innovative businesses as the driver for economic growth. In this context, the objective of this study was to examine and analyse the current framework conditions for selected innovation issues in six candidate countries.

The study was commissioned by DG Enterprise in May 2000, and was implemented over a 16 month period by a core team led by the co-ordinator Aide a la Decision Economique (ADE) S.A. (BE). This brochure contains highlights taken from the full (final report of the study).
