Abstract

In this report, the main aspects of the present state of metrology in chemistry in Lithuania are presented. The state of metrology in chemistry can hardly be described without the knowledge of the general metrology, therefore the most important information about the overall metrology system in Lithuania is presented as well.

The information presented in the report was collected in co-operation with the experts of various institutions in special fields (governmental bodies, universities and institutes, analytical laboratories). The information covers activities and responsibilities of governmental, education, non-governmental institutions and private companies. The key institutions and their activities are summarized in short in Table 1. More detailed information can be found in the main text. Annexes include tables summarising data on functions of various institutions in special fields and tasks (food, environment, clinics); and a bibliography, including the list of the main laws and regulations regarding metrology in chemistry in Lithuania.
