Abstract

GAS is an interactive modelling tool that relates lifestyles to emissions of three greenhouse gases, CO(2), CH(4) and N(2)O. It has been designed and implemented based on modern concepts of software engineering. Its highly interactive and intuitive user interface allow it to be used by ordinary citizens, NGOs and other stakeholders who wish to investigate their contributions to a global issue and explore alternative pathways to reduce their burden. GAS comprises three software modules: METER, GAS-EXPLORER and DAY-PLANNER. This book contains a user manual for the software, and also summarises the quality assurance process of GAS, and provides references, sources of information and a selected bibliography. Further information will be available on the website http://alba.jrc.it/gas.
