Abstract

ESARDA is an association of European organisations formed to advance and harmonise research and development of nuclear safeguards. It also provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas between nuclear facility operators, the safeguarding authorities and R&D people. The 23rd annual ESARDA meeting was held in Bruges, Belgium, from 8 to 10 May 2001. These proceedings contain 115 papers presented at the symposium, covering areas such as non-destructive assay, containment and surveillance, strengthened and integrated safeguards, remote monitoring, co-operative safeguards programmes, and destructive analysis with environmental sampling.
