The workshop on 'Urban Boundary Layer Parameterisations' was organised by Working Groups 1 and 2 of COST Action 715 'Meteorology applied to Urban Air Pollution Problems' (1998-2003). It consisted of a series of scientific presentations and extensive discussions among the 48 participants from 18 countries. The intention of the workshop was to review and discuss the limitations of existing methods of parameterising the urban atmospheric boundary layer, and to propose where new theoretical work and field studies could be of value. The workshop includes a wide variety of approaches used in European research and elsewhere. The results of the workshop are published on behalf of the European Commission's DG Research.
