Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This brochure is intended to disseminate the objectives and main achievements of research supported by the European Commission on "epidemiology and retrospective dosimetry". The brochure focuses on research carried out in the 4th and 5th Framework Programmes but also addresses earlier research. Particular attention is given to the development of new and improved tools and methods for a safe use of ionizing radiation in industry, medicine and research. The purpose is to reduce health risks due to radiation exposure by means of radio-epidemiological studies on populations with protracted low-dose-rate exposures. The brochure is divided into two parts. The first provides a summary of Commission supported research over the past decade. The second part contains short summaries of the objectives and achievements of each of the supported projects.
