Abstract

Among the findings of this Eurostat report are:
- Participation in tertiary education is increasing more for women than for men;
- UK and German institutions are attracting the lion's share of foreign tertiary students;
- More female than male graduates in almost every Member State;
- Science and technology are male dominated disciplines;
- Finland has the highest proportion of tertiary educated people;
-The proportion of people working in S&T occupations is increasing in Europe;
- Scientists and engineers are male dominated professions.

The Statistics in Focus series is published regularly by Eurostat and provides up-to-date summaries of the main results of statistical surveys, studies and analyses. It consists of about four to eight pages per issue.
