Metrology of qualitative chemical analysis

Project ID: G6MA-CT-2000-01012
Funded under: FP5-GROWTH

Final report of Contract No G6MA-CT2000-01012, prepared for the European Commission, Research DG.

The main achievements of this document are the systematic development of basic and applied approaches to the metrology of qualitative analysis and provision of the support needed to ensure the consistency between the delivered and requested analytical information in areas such as the environment, health, agriculture, food and industry .In addition, several future key research lines are outlined and properly addressed.

The two most relevant motivations of this document are the existence of a "black hole" in metrology in chemistry as regards qualitative analysis and the fact that an increasing proportion of the (bio)chemical information needed to make correct, timely decisions is of a binary yes/no nature, which in many cases is more relevant than quantitative results from a practical point of view.
