Abstract

The main results of this Eurostat report show that the EU's ICT sector in 2000 was composed of approximately 550 000 enterprises, with 6 million persons employed and value added of EUR 440 billion. ICT services accounted for 75% of ICT employment and value added. The ICT sector represents 3.7% of total employment and value added by the ICT sector was equivalent to 5.2% of GDP in 2000.

The Statistics in Focus series is published regularly by Eurostat and provides up-to-date summaries of the main results of statistical surveys, studies and analyses. It consists of about four to eight pages per issue.
