Abstract

The mechanical properties of the toroidal field model coil (TFMC) tested as a single coil by current ramping up to 80 kA were analysed. For low ramping rates the displacement transducers and strain gauges gave stable signals. The global coil deformation and stress levels were in good agreement to FEM predictions.
