One of the main goals of active CXRS is the assessment of helium ash population features:
a) radial density profiles;
b) velocity distribution functions;
c) anisotropic features;
d) high energy tails close to birth energy;
e) transport and confinement;

The main alpha birth region is within r/a<0.3. For alpha studies and consistency checks of neutron yields etc. , the assessment of centralregion r/a<0.3 is essential. Expected SNR values for the core region r/a<0.3 are reduced by a factor 2 compared to the old reference scenario (r/a=0.3).

However, the main 'leading' CX ions ( C, Be) would be assessible (SNR > 20) even at r/a=0.1. Thus the main ingredients for core consistency are guaranteed. In view of the physics gains for a tilted DNB appears a new engineering effort highly recommendable.
