Studies on the socio-economic impact of biotechnology; The socio-economic impact of genetically modified, rancidity-free, insect-resistant hazelnuts
This study is designed to stimulate the debate on the desirability of certain products. With hazelnut production as an example, it tries to find ways to develop an answer, which takes into account different interests. Experts in economics, hazelnut growing and consumers are discussing the conditions under which genetic modifications to hazelnuts should be regarded as an improvement. Cases where market/ consumers would not accept (genetic) modifications to well established products were also discussed.
