Abstract

This report describes the preparation of a butter fat reference material, certified for the quantities of 4 tracers (beta-carotenic acid ethyl ester, stigmasterol, beta-sitosterol, and n-heptanoic acid triglyceride) and giving an indicative value for another tracer, vanillin.
The preparation of the material, the performance of the homogeneity and stability study and the characterisation with a discussion of the results is described hereafter. Uncertainties were calculated in compliance with the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM) and include uncertainties due to possible inhomogeneity and possible instability.
