Training manual for clinical trials and research in developing countries developed in the context of an EC-funded project in bioethics under the ''Quality of Life'' Programme of the Community�s fifth Framework Programme for research and technological development.

This manual contains background material that can be used in training courses in research ethics it consists of two parts, one in paper format, the other in electronic format. All of the material in paper format is on the CD. The CD contains in addition some instructional modules as well as video-presentations of various topics.

Although the material in this manual is suitable for all types of courses in research ethics, its unique feature is that it contains material of special relevance to international collaborative research. Thus the presentations are from a research ethics course at Thammastat University, Bankok, and there is background material on the two controversial recent topics in international collaborative research, the standard of care issue and the availability of treatment issue.
