  • Report of the workshop "Inverse modelling for potential verification of national and EU bottom-up GHG inventories" under the mandate of the monitoring mechanism committee WG-1

The Workshop "Inverse modelling for potential verification of national and EU bottom-up GHG inventories" was held on 23-24 October 2003 in Ispra (Italy), jointly organized by the European Commission Joint Research Centre, DG Environment, and the European Environment Agency under the mandate of the European Monitoring Mechanism Committee.

The workshop brought together EU national experts responsible for official reporting of national GHG inventories to UNFCCC and scientists working on inverse modelling, including the project coordinators of the current relevant EU RTD projects. The main objective was to assess the current state of the art and identify further research/infrastructure needs for verification of national and European GHG inventories by inverse modelling. This report is summarizing the presentations and discussions of the workshop and is directed both to scientists and policy makers in order to further stimulate the cooperation and interaction between these groups.
