Abstract

This document contains the slides to a presentation held at the 10th EU-US Transport Task Force Workshop. The presentation covered the following topics:
Hybrid regime: candidate scenario for ITER, with a potential for longer inductive pulse at high fusion gain.
Typical q-profile : q95 ~ 4-5, as well as q/min maintained at or slightly above 1 (i.e. generally sawtooth-free).
Global energy confinement higher than conventional H-modes
Why does the q profile stays "clamped" to 1?
Origin of the higher confinement ?

In this presentation the following methods were introduced:
- Comparative current and heat transport modelling of hybrid discharges from 3 tokamaks : AUG, DIII-D, JET.
- Data read from ITPA database : plasma geometry, Zeff, electron density, heat and current drive sources, toroidal rotation.
- Use of the CRONOS integrated modelling code, testing various transport models (mixed Bohm/gyro-Bohm, GLF23, Weiland)
