Abstract

After a major replacement of all internal components, Tore Supra has restarted operation with a new set of actively cooled components. The safety of these components relies on infrared (IR) thermography. Up to twelve IR cameras will be used to survey nearly all the high flux target zones which are essentially the 360 degree toroidal pump limiter and the 5 power injection HF antennas. The high data rate produced by each camera (~ 8 Mbytes/sec.) led s to implement a multi stages system: during experimentations, images are stored where they are acquired then, each night they are compressed, using a lossy standard image compression algorithm (JPEG) and stored on a specialized IR data server. Between shots, acquisition systems act as servers and physicists can read data using a dedicated analysis software. For post-analysis purposes, all compressed images are read from the IR data server using the same analysis software or for in-depth analysis, physicists can use the Matlab interface we have developed.
