Abstract

In the context of the European challenge to protect and guarantee a sufficient quantity of water of good quality, the Euroharp Project was set up and financed by the EC Directorate General research in order to improve transparency in quantifying nutritient losses of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) at catchment scale. The Euroharp Project is comparing the performance of nine qualification tools by applying them on 17 catchments throughout Europe. The project consortium consists of 22 partners who need to collaborate efficiently in order to produce timely their final deliverable: a set of tools which could guide decision makers in the choice and use of modelling instruments for calculating N and P losses within their territory of operation. Most EU member states are represented with one or more organizations in the consortium, each organization taking on the role of data user or data provider Euroharp is one project within an EC-organized CATCHMOD cluster of projects, which torch upon similar issues.
