Abstract

ERA-NET is a new scheme designed to support the long-lasting coordination of European research programmes across national boundaries, aimed at the funders and managers of national and regional research programmes. The ERA-NET scheme represents a significant step towards the creation of a fully functioning European Research Area.
The ERA-NET scheme is a highly innovative component of the European Unions Sixth Research Framework Programme (2002-2006). Uniquely, it provides support for the transnational networking and coordination of national research programmes. The schemes participants are therefore programme managers working in national ministries and funding agencies, and not universities or enterprises.
This folder presents synopses of the projects selected for funding as a result of the open call for proposals published by the European Commission in December 2002, in the area of the ERA-NET scheme.
