Abstract

This document contains the slides to a presentation held at the IAEA TM on SSO of Magnetic Fusion Devices.
Control science plays crucial roles in Technology. TO mention only a few:
- Large industrial process control
- Very complex flight and guidance control of rockets
- Space probes and satellites pointing control system
- Control of very large interconnected electric power systems
- etc.

Complex technological systems cannot operate without control system whatsoever. For intrinsically unstable and complex systems such as confined plasma, feedback control clearly has significant impact on the performance, viability, size and cost of future fusion machines.
