This project was aimed at:
- The assessment of TMCP potential for achieving microstructures suitable for simplification/ elimination of softening annealing of wire rods made of low alloy steels;
- the design and development of steel chemistry, mill lay-out and hot rolling schedules for TMCP of wire rods, in order to improve metallurgical properties.
The investigation of the effect of thermo-mechanical treatment on microstructure evolution and final properties was performed on selected commercial steels, by laboratory tests, pilot and industrial trials, and application of thermal and metallurgical models.
