New and Emerging Themes in Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Final Report of the NEST SUPPORT project NETIAMFunded under: FP6-NEST
The NEST SUPPORT project NETIAM on New and Emerging Themes in Industrial and Applied Mathematics finished in August 2005. NETIAM investigated 4 key themes on i) Modelling criminality in the social environment, ii) Challenges in modelling the business environment, iii) Challenges in visualisation and simulation for virtual materials analysis and design, iv) Complexity at the molecular level. The themes have been identified by the partners as showing particular emerging opportunities for novel mathematics and providing an opportunity to demonstrate how mathematics provides a common language with which to approach interdisciplinary research. The present final report summarizes their main achievements, findings and recommendations.
