Animal welfare committees in the European research area

Animal Welfare Committees help to protect and improve the welfare of animals used in scientific procedures. On the basis of a pan-European survey, the authors identified problems in the functioning of those committees and foster politicians and policy to support ‘best practices’, harmonization of procedures and standards, and improve the information supply. The booklet includes 78 contact addresses of individuals or institutions in 24 European Member States, candidate countries and associated countries.
