Abstract

The project was focused on improving the knowledge about surface contamination on steel strips and the possibilities to reduce it. Therefore a number of analysis methods for the evaluation of surface contaminants have been developed. Surface analytical techniques as well as technological tests were used to evaluate the cleanliness properties of surfaces produced in well-controlled laboratory experiments and industrial trials. The influence of production media (rolling oil, cleaning agents, etc.) and process parameters on surface cleanliness and technological properties in downstream process was examined.
